at home with leah avery.

Two of my best buds made this perfect little human, and I feel so lucky that I get to photograph all of her big moments. For forever, like on Fame. Leah was a perfect 16 days new when we had her at-home lifestyle session with her mom and dad. Anytime within the first month works, but keep in mind, I only work with natural light so you’ve got to have some great windows to make a session like this happen.

Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them. Welcome to the world little girl! You’re in good hands.

the gift that keeps on giving.

I know how hard it is to buy gifts for mom and grandma. The ladies in your life who seem to have everything they could want or need (or they’d get it themselves because hi, we are independent women). I struggle to get more creative than an Amazon gift card every year, for every occasion. So when a past client called me about taking photos of her kids and her sister-in-laws kids for her MIL’s birthday present I was like you are a genius.

The best part about scheduling a session for your kids or your family and turning those photos into a gift for mom, grandma, dad, grandpa….whoever is that YOU get to keep the photos as well. #winning

and then there were four.

Normally I have a lot to say. But I feel that these images say it better than I ever could.

Not finding out the gender of your baby before it’s born when you already have a child is INTENSE. Not really for the parents, because they just want a healthy baby plain and simple. But for ME, I was like please, please, PLEASE let it be a boy. Because that’s just exciting. And seeing dad’s face when he saw that baby boy for the first time. Waterworks. Also, Joseph Francis just happened to be born on his great-great grandpa Frank’s 96th birthday. SO MANY FEELS.

It was so nice seeing this brand new family of four all together 9 days later. I do feel part of the family after being in the foxhole aka delivery room with parents, and I like to see how everyone settles in at home. As you can see, big sis is handling her new role very well.

Congratulations to this beautiful family! Can’t wait for the next one 😉 Just kidding. Probably.

did we just become best friends?

When I first walked into the brand new shop on East Main Street in Batavia, I was instantly transported to Covent Garden in London, The Commons in Ithaca, (insert your favorite city’s shopping district here). I was giddy over the place, with its unique home décor and statement dresses. My first thought was, FINALLY. Because I have been waiting for a place like this to exist in our little town.

Ashley, owner of Pollyanna & Dot looks like little birdies help her get dressed in the morning. I mean, she literally wears dessert. SO much to love about her and her style which she is graciously sharing with all of us through both the vintage and bold pieces she carries in her store. She also allegedly doesn’t love having her picture taken. Allegedly.

Ashley grew up loving all things vintage and made it her duty to bring vintage and also more modern European-style frocks to the masses (or Genesee County) to fit every size and every budget.

What I love most about Pollyanna & Dot (other than the name which derived from Ashley’s grandmother’s names put together, so sweet) is that the clothing is both stylish and flattering to women with any body type, especially those of us who are on the full figure side of things. Every shape will find something to make them feel like their most beautiful self.

Leanna, owner of The Hidden Door decided to take the leap in opening her business with an “if not now, then when?” attitude, which I can appreciate as a business owner myself. I was just in awe watching her put together her in-store displays, joking about how stressed out I get about decorating my mantel. But not really joking because my mantel for real stresses me out. It’s so nice to know that I can just walk into the store whenever I want (well, Tuesday-Saturday) and get advice from a chick who not only gets it, but sells it.

What I love most about The Hidden Door is that Leanna is constantly getting cleaned out. So she’s constantly restocking new items, giving us a way better shot at gifting something unique OR having a unique piece in our homes. That, and the candles that smell like wine, because everything in life should smell like rosé if you want my honest opinion.

On behalf of every woman within a 20 mile radius, I want to thank you ladies. For taking the plunge and styling my mantel and me for the foreseeable future.

happy birthday to you.

I cannot believe this little boy is ONE. Look at how impossibly little he was when I did his newborn session almost one whole year ago.

His entrance into the world was super stressful to say the least. His mommy is still recovering. So seeing how much she’s healed and he’s grown a year later is incredibly emotional for a lot of people, including me.

We took these photos at Genesee Valley Farm in Batavia. I love it there. White fences and horses just go together. Not every little boy is lucky enough to have a mommy and her baby horse photo bomb his one year photos.

I love him and his little Nike sneakers.

He was a little taken back by being presented with a cake to stick his fingers in. I love his facial expressions, like wait guys, what is this? is this for me? is this a trap? no? okay cool. And thennnn it was clearly naptime. But for being only (not quite) one, I think he totally crushed his photo shoot.

Happy birthday to you, Weston. You are such a sweet boy and Auntie Jeni loves you!
