photography workshop // destin

As a purely self (YouTube) taught photographer, I am absolutely ecstatic to share that I attended my first photography workshop last week with none other than Bobbi & Doug from Twig & Olive! I knew it was time to really invest in myself, and I wanted to get the most bang for my buck. Just having the two of them on my side of the country was reason enough to take the leap and fly down to Destin. Worth every penny let me tell you. I returned with a ton of confidence, loads of business expertise, and honestly even some basic knowledge that made me feel super clueless when I learned it for the first time. But hey, now I know. I am so ready to better by business in 2019, use my time more wisely, and bring to you an experience you will remember forever. Here is a look at one of the model families at the workshop. Due to rain, us workshop goers didn’t get a ton of time behind the camera, but I was able to take 5 minutes with this gorgeous family right after sunset (which is called Blue Light, did you know that? Yeah, me either).

Christmas Minis are coming up next weekend, and I can’t wait to take what I’ve learned and make them the best yet! Here’s to year 4. Thank you for being here!

the final days of summer.

My favorite shots from my session with one of my favorite families. They love having their picture taken (okay, dad just goes along with it), and I LOVE that about them. I thought I would never see them again when they moved out of state, and was SO pleased they asked me to take their photos while they were up for a visit. Let’s make this a yearly thing, shall we? 😉

…and i’m back!

Oh my goodness, what a whirlwind it has been since my last post. I became a mom. My life got turned upside down. And 14 weeks later I can finally breathe again. Most of the time. Having a baby is no joke. I am truly blessed to have this business that I can work as much or as little as I want to. Super thankful for my amazing clients, especially those of you who have stuck with me through my price change. I pride myself on being an affordable photographer, but I needed to make some changes to make this “job” work, especially now that my time is so much more valuable since having my little babe. I am now offering clients twice as many photos as I used to due to a switch in editing software. I’m super excited about that, and I know you will be, too!

at home with leah avery.

Two of my best buds made this perfect little human, and I feel so lucky that I get to photograph all of her big moments. For forever, like on Fame. Leah was a perfect 16 days new when we had her at-home lifestyle session with her mom and dad. Anytime within the first month works, but keep in mind, I only work with natural light so you’ve got to have some great windows to make a session like this happen.

Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them. Welcome to the world little girl! You’re in good hands.

and then there were four.

Normally I have a lot to say. But I feel that these images say it better than I ever could.

Not finding out the gender of your baby before it’s born when you already have a child is INTENSE. Not really for the parents, because they just want a healthy baby plain and simple. But for ME, I was like please, please, PLEASE let it be a boy. Because that’s just exciting. And seeing dad’s face when he saw that baby boy for the first time. Waterworks. Also, Joseph Francis just happened to be born on his great-great grandpa Frank’s 96th birthday. SO MANY FEELS.

It was so nice seeing this brand new family of four all together 9 days later. I do feel part of the family after being in the foxhole aka delivery room with parents, and I like to see how everyone settles in at home. As you can see, big sis is handling her new role very well.

Congratulations to this beautiful family! Can’t wait for the next one 😉 Just kidding. Probably.
